A hands-on way to allow fellow educators the power of empathy with students who have Dyslexia or other literacy disabilities. It is not meant to replicate Dyslexia or how a student with Dyslexia sees letters. It is meant to better understand the feelings, frustrations, struggles, and work effort it takes for our students who struggle in literacy. This will encompass various reading tasks including reading in context, fluency, reading comprehension, phonological awareness, oral language, penmanship, spelling, and writing. It is a hands-on experience with follow up discussions after each simulation activity. There will also be information shared regarding what Dyslexia is and what it is not and best practices for supporting our students.
